My front teeth are really sensitive and painful, cant stand hot or cold what is causing this?

Q. My two front teeth are really sensitive and painfull, carnt stand hot or cold or even preasure when eating food,i use sensidyne toothpaste an brush with elec/sensitive brush, iam currently taking painkillers to take the edge off the pain, what is causing this ?

A. Taking painkillers on a regualr basis can’t be good for your system. It sounds as though you have a possible infection on one- or even both your front teeth. You need to see your dentist and have an xray to confirm any abnormalities. If they are infected, then it is possible to have them root treated to rid of any infection etc. You will then need to have crowns to protect the teeth, as root treatments can weaken the teeth over time and may possibly increase the chances of fracturing in future. The main cause of infections is when decay develops through your tooth into the nerve. If the tooth is left without having any treatment, an abcess is likely to develop- and the infection can over time eat away at the bone surrounding the tooth structure.
Please visit your dentist to see what can be done.
