My fixed retainer came off and my gap between my front teeth opened

Q. As a child I wore a fixed retainer for 18 months to close a gap between my two front teeth, a fixed retainer was also placed on the back of the teeth to prevent it reopening in the future. However the retainer on the back came off, my dentist took it off completely as he said there was no point replacing it. Since the gap has opened slightly. I will not wear a fixed retainer again would there be any other way to close the gap and prevent it reopening? I have an appointment with an orthodontist but it is expensive and I really don’t want to go if the only option would be to wear a fixed retainer. Thanks

It does seem that the retainer was the way forward for you as the gap only occurred once this was removed. Unfortunately I do not specialise in orthodontics so you would need to get the expert opinion of an orthodontist who would look into you’re mouth and tell you all of you’re options, so you have done the right thing booking in to see one.

   when i was young my left front tooth was pushed to side by acsident and now i am 12 years old and i still have a gap in my front teeth. the gap has gotten smaller but i think it will take about 3 more year untill it will close completly. i was wondering what is the best option to fix my gap?
