My Dentist Trimmed My Teeth Too Far Down And Now They Are Sensitive, Now I May Need A Root Canal. What Should I Do?

Q.
Dear Doctor,
9 Months ago I got dental bridges on both sides (lower) from Pakistan. The dentist had trimmed the teeth too much and I still feel sensitivity issues with cold, hot and even pressure. Though it gets better with time but not finished. I consulted another dentist and he advised me to leave it as they will be okay with time. The dentist who fixed them, now advising me for root canal but I don’t want to because my supporting teeth are healthy and I don’t want them to be dead.
Now I am in the UK,  please advise me, what do I have to do to overcome this problem? Can I wait more or go for the replacement of bridges.

Thank you and kind regards.

A.
Hello and thank you for your question. I think if the supporting teeth are very sensitive you should have a root canal. It doesn’t affect much to do a root canal or not and if not there is the increased chance you might get infection as they have been trimmed a lot as you said. I hope this helps, best wishes, Dr Hussein Shaffie.
