My Dentist Thinks I Should Replace My Veneers. What Would You Recommend?

Q.
Hi,

I had 6 porcelain veneers fitted to my top front 6 teeth 25 years ago. Within the last 12 months 2 have chipped which I had replaced during my last 2 months in the RAF (free dental treatment) but they are not even close to the shade of my other 4. Since leaving the RAF I have joined my local dentist and recently another veneer has pinged off. I saw my dentist and he recommended that I have all 6 replaced in order to colour match and have all my teeth whitened and fillings replaced with white ones. What would you recommend? (I do fully expect my remaining original veneers to start pinging off now as they’ve lasted way beyond what it was advised).

Hello. It may well be time to get a new smile as veneers do have a lifespan. Make sure your dentist is proficient with veneers and ask to see before and after cases. You should make sure that you are happy with the colour before the new ones are permanently stuck in. You also need your dentist to examine your bite. This is usually the reason that veneers start to fall off. I hope this helps. Regards, Dr Riten Patel.
