My dentist says that I do not have enough bone for a dental implant
Q. I have just been informed by my dentist that I may not have enough bone for a dental implant. I’m 38, healthy and active. Should I seek a second opinion or request a CT scan. They have offered to slice the gum open to check for sure. It all sounds a bit vague really. I really want to have the implant as neither the denture or bridge option are satisfactory to me. My dentist has also mentioned a bone graft but suggests because you can see my gum when I smile this will not look very good. Also my bite is very close. Is this a factor in the potential success?
A. I would advise a second opinion to allay your fears and with a registered specialist Implantologist.
A CT scan would yield a wealth of information regarding your existing bone levels and would help to identify any potential issues regarding implant success and longevity
This will then allow you to make a fully informed decision regarding your selected treatments.
Kind regards
