My dentist recommended me to see the specialist for the root canal advice?

Q. Hi I have had an abcess on one of my front teeth for about 6 weeks. I had 3 courses of antibiotics and have now started having root treatment with my own dentist, there is also still a lump over the top of it but it has gone considerably smaller since the root treatment started. At my last visit she recommended that I see a specialist to have this treatment done. Does this mean that it is really bad and I could lose my tooth. Thanks

A. It means that the nerve is infected and needs to be treated. With all root canal there is a chance of failour, which is why your dentist has given you some great advise by recommended a specialist. This way you are giving the tooth the best chnce of survival.
