My Dentist Has Said She Can’t Find My Root Canals And May Have To Extract A Tooth, This Really Worries Me, What Should I Do?

Q.
Hi, Hello. I saw my dentist yesterday because I have an abscess on a front tooth and she gave me antibiotics and I was supposed to go back to have root canal treatment but when she looked on my X-ray she said she may not be able to do it as she couldn’t find the root canals and she may have to extract the tooth but I don’t want to lose my tooth, as this really worries me. What do you advise? If I have to lose the tooth what would be the best way to replace it? Is it really possible that she may not find the root canals or does she just want to extract so that I have to have further treatment? Any assistance would help.
A.
Hello. If the canals are closed then root canal treatment is impossible, if that is the case then an implant might be your best option. If you are not happy with your dentist’s assessment, why not seek a consultation elsewhere? If the diagnosis matches you will have a further idea on which course of action to take. Thank you, Andrew.
