My Daughters NHS Crown Is Too Bulky. Can She Have Her Crown Re-Done?

Q.
Hello Dr Moore, I hope you can help me. My daughter who is 18 years old has had a white crown fitted by a NHS dentist. The treatment was free as she has had a baby within the last 12 months. The crown is much bigger than her other teeth, although it is fitted at the back of her lower teeth. The dentist realized that the crown was too big before he carried on with the treatment. He did not offer to re-size the tooth and asked my daughter if she wanted the crown or not. She had no alternative but to carry on with the procedure. Can she have her crown re-done? Thank you for your time.

Hello and thank you for your question. It should be possible, I would need to see her in person however to judge this accurately. She should voice her concerns to her dentist, if he can’t do it, find an experienced dentist in your area who will. A second opinion should be sought to get a clearer picture of what can be done. Kind regards, Dr Andrew Moore.
