My child’s teeth are not developing normally, what should I do?

Q.
Hi,
I am mother of a 7 year old. Today I was told that he didn’t developed both lower central incisors and 3 of second premolars (1 top 2 bottom). What is next move for me as parent. And what sort of help and treatment can I expect.
Thank you.
A.
Dear Enquirer,
Don’t worry, continue to take your child to the dentist and they will review his/her tooth development. It’s worth taking an xray called an OPG (Orthopantomogram) which scans the whole upper and lower jaw and shows all the teeth both erupted and unerupted.
As your child grows, they may require further treatment, maybe orthodontic/restorative treatment depending on how the jaw bones develop and how the teeth position themselves. For now, don’t worry, make sure you supervise his brushing regime and visit the hygienist regularly so his teeth and gums remain healthy.
