My bottom teeth are crowding again even though i wear a retainer, what can I do?

Q.
Hi, I was just wondering if you could help me.
About 5 years ago I had braces for both my top and bottom teeth. After having my brace removed, I had to wear a retainer until my dentist told me otherwise. However over the last 2 years, on the bottom the first 6 teeth have begun to twist and move slightly back. It’s beginning to get really noticeable, and I’m just worried that it’s going to get worse as time goes on.
I’m 18 and in full time education, and was just wondering how much it would cost or if it would cost anything to get them sorted?

Thank you.

Hi

Unfortunately everyones lower teeth crowd as we get older. There have been lots of studies about the cause – it is not related to wisdom teeth but thought to be growth changes and that we show more lower teeth as we get older.

Without seeing you I would be unable to give you an idea of cost, but would suggest you speak to your orthodontist about your options. If the cost is too much at present, I would suggest wearing a new retainer to stop the teeth crowding any more until you start braces again.

Good luck

Mark
