My bite is uncomfortable despite having 2 biomadibular osteotomies in the past, what are my options?

Q.
I have had 2 biomadibular osteotomoys to correct my open bite but I am now 31 and my teeth have started to move again and my bite now feels uncomfortable, I have previously been told that i have short roots in my teeth and wouldnt be able to have braces again but my teeth are making me so miserable and i now hate smiling, is there anything that can be done? Many thanks

If further orthodontics are out of the question , you may be able to have your bite modified to feel more comfortable. This is termed Occlusal equilibration. Only dentists that have a lot of additional training in bite correction should undertake this treatment. It can be very simple or very complicated depending on the individual case. Try to find a cosmetic/restorative dentist near to you that has this training and experience.

I’d advise you to also seek the opinion of a specialist orthodontist as well to make sure the orthodontic option is not possible. it’ll be very important for you to have good retention after your treatment no matter what route you take.

Come and see us if London is near to you

best of luck
