My 17 year old son had his front tooth kicked out

Q. My 17 year old son as been assaulted and had his front tooth kicked out,the one next to it is chipped. A dentist as advised that a Maryland bridge is the best option and the chipped tooth to be filled. I just wanted to know considering his age whether this is the best option. Thank you.

A. Probably,as he needs a minimally invasive treatment in the first instance. Long term a dental implant might be a good option depending on the localised damage to the bone. However implants are not a good idea when the facial bone structure is still growing / maturing. Also std criminal injury compensation is unlikely to cover costs, check all insurance such as travel & household as some policies might give cover.
