I’ve Tried Many Treatments To Overcome My Root Canal Pain And I Don’t Know What To Do Next?

Q.
Mark,

I had a root canal job done on a molar in October last year, however the pain has come back – I have tried various antibiotics, plus gone back to the Endodontic specialist in Manchester who has re-drilled the canals again and put a temporary dressing in. I still have the pain. The specialist suggests the next step is to send me to a neurolgist, as nothing is showing on the x-rays and there are no other options.

A friend in Canada is a specialist Endodontist and delivers PIPS Laser treatment (LVI Global based) and has suggested I try to find someone who practices this in the UK and also look for a dentist who has a TENS machine. I’ve not had much success so far. Any advice was be very gratefully received.
Thanks.

I’m sorry to hear you are still having problems. It sounds like the specialists are trying everything they can. Sometimes there can be central nervous system (neurological) problems after chronic pain associated with root canals, which even taking the tooth out won’t correct. Although this is very rare.

I am not aware of any endodontists in the UK using the PIPS laser treatment but it might be worthwhle contacting some endodontic specialist practices to see if they do. The best specialists are mostly here in the Harley Street area so a search should come up with some names.

3 to try first are:
Simon Cunnington, Julian Webber, Richard Kahan.  Hope that helps for now and good luck with your treatment, Best wishes

Mark.
