Ive serious pain with my tooth my dentist suggested root canal is it okay to continue with painkillers

Q. Hi there, I’ve been in serious pain with a tooth for two days now. I went to the dentist today who said I would need root canal therapy or an extraction, but they cannot fit me in for eight days. Is it ok for me to continue taking painkillers every three hours for eight days?

A. No you will overdose, Follow the instructions on the box. Some anagesics can be combined in some people. never double up medicines that contain paracetamol. Check NHS direct for cominations that might work for you. Try to get an emergency  appointment for “pulp extipation” or antibiotics as a last resort.
