Ive overbite and my dentist suggested to get my jaw broken can u advice?

Q. HI, I have an overbite, but I went to the dentist this week and they said my bottom jaw has grown enough to meet the top. So I would need braces then I would need to get my jaw broken and then braces again. I am very worried about this but I hate my teeth and the way they look. Would you be able to give me any advice? Or information to look into about realigning my jaw? Thank you very much

A. This isn’t really my field. try searching orthognathic surgery. Mostly its done on the NHS Rob

Hi
I have seen an othodontis about my teeth and as the top teeth slope backwards a lot and do not meet the bottom teeth when i bite. I have been told that the problem is with the jaw which would have to be broken and realigned and then braces worn to pull the top teeth back into a straighter position. I do not have a bad profile (ie not an obvious weak chin) but the appearance of my teeth is a source of embarrassment as the front teeth slope backwards so much. What do you advise and what are the likely costs please?
