I’ve been told I have gum disease and the tooth where my bridge is has become loose. What can I do?

Q.
Due to an eye tooth never appearing I had a bridge approx 15 years ago. My dentist has today told me I have gum disease and the tooth that my bridge is fixed on is loose and will in time drop out! Great news as I have been having regular check ups every six months for as long as I can remember and this is the first time there has been a problem.

Would I be able to have an implant with a bridge and if so, how much would it be?

A.
Hi and thanks for your question. Sorry to hear about the tooth possibly being lost.

I’d recommend you have a second opinion from either a Periodontist (expert in gum problems) and/or a Prosthodontist or implant expert. It is quite possible that you will have a few options. What’s important for an implant placement is that any gum disease is fully eradicated before an implant is placed to reduce the risk of the gum disease affecting the new implant.

I’d advise a thorough consultation from an experienced and ethical implant dentist as soon as possible. Costs can vary greatly depending on your situation or exact details of the ideal treatment plan. Also the aesthetic quality of the final dental restorations on top of the implant(s) can affect the costs.

I hope that helps for now but you’ll get all the accurate answers from the implant dentist you choose.

What is the cost for a soft denture reline?

Colten Says :

The cost will vary based on the soft material used and the extent of reline needed. It is not possible to provide an estimate. Typically this can range from $300-$500 as a separate procedure. It will also vary based on whether the denture was just made or is older and needs a reline. I recomend you consult with a dentist in your area.
