is there any other options for having false teeth other than dental implant or dental bridges

Q. I receive my dental treatment from an NHS dentist and whilst I am happy with the treatment I receive from him, he isn’t really helping me with a difficult decision I have. I have a lot of crowns already but also have a three tooth bridge on the upper right side of my mouth. The problem is that the bridge is coming loose and although my dentist has put it back in for me it has come loose again. He says that I only have two options: 1. To have a 5 tooth bridge which I feel would compromise two good natural teeth 2. To have have the bridge removed and what is left of my natural teeth underneath removed a plate with three false teeth. I am a very nervous dental patient and dread the thought of any treatment at all so implants would be out of the question for me as I couldn’t endure the treatment What I want to know is are these the only two options open to me, or would there be any other option as a private patient. I really don’t want to lose my NHS dentist as they are really hard to find but am sure there must be a better alternative for me than what I have been offered. Hoping you can help. Many thanks

A. There is another option for you. Dental implants with fixed bridgework on top to close the gap.
This is however, a more costly option- but neverthe less- a permanent solution for your needs. I would not recommend a 5 unit bridge, unless you desperately have to and there is no other choice, but tis is something that you need to consider in your own time. If you decide to have cosmetic treatment at a private clinic, then you will not lose your place on the NHS providing that you still attend for your regular check-ups etc Hope this has helped
