Is there a danger of harmful metals being released from my crowns?

Q.
Hi Dr. Verma I have a complicated question to ask you that has been drilling into my mind since I had the crown fixed 3 years ago, I heard that in all part of europe it is prohibited to use crowns made from a combination of metal fused to porcelain because they can cause mouth or gums cancers because of it`s chemicals release
Think you in advance
A.
Dear Enquirer,
You are perfectly safe regarding crowns being placed in your mouth that contain metal. Any laboratory that is registered with the Medical Devices Directive (MDD) and the Medical Devices Regulations (MDR)have to follow a set of criteria that guarantees consistency and quality of materials used in the manufacture of your crown. As the metal is cast, there is no danger of any leakage of chemicals from the crown and there is certainly no risk of mouth or gum cancer. Put your mind at rest and do not worry at all about this.
I hope this helps,
Regards,
Sunita
