Is orthodontic treatment involved in a smile makeover?

Q.
Hello,

I just want to know about the smile make over that you do , does ti involve orthodontic treatment as well if required?

A.
Dear Enquirer,
My understanding of the word smile makeover range from a simple procedure like teeth whitening coupled with some composite bonding (white fillings), to porcelain veneers, with or without some orthodontic treatment. Basically any treament that improves the cosmetic appearance can be classed as a smile makeover.

am 30 years old woman, from last 9 years I am a smoker. I never had a beautifull smile, my teeth never been straight, but now after a few years of smoking I am a shame to smile on the front to others. I would love to changeit. One of my dream is to have a straight teeth. My teeth has been alwaysreally crowded. Has been thinking to wear a braces, but for the result would have to wait between 1-2.5 years and I am worring I would feel discomfortwearing it and would not feel comfident really. I know nowdays is many different options to achive beautiful smile, but it is difficult to find the professional one, who you can really trust. Also I would like a price list (estimated)of variety of treatments I could use for my “smile makeover”, with a time needed to achive it, advatages and disadvantages of each treatment. Thank you so much. Looking forward to hear from you.

Hi, I’ve always wanted to straighten/correct my teeth. My problem has been affordability. I just cant. But seeing the prices here seems more attainable. I’ve entered the smile Makeover. You can view my teeth from my picture. What procedure would I have to take to get my teeth corrected. My teeth protrude. Known to be buck toothed. Which means my teeth are crooked. Rather than be straight up and down, they bend forward. The top teeth over lap the bottom. I put my hand over my mouth because I don’t like people seeing my ugly teeth.

I am looking to have cosmetic work done on my teeth to achieve a ‘perfect’ smile. Before being given braces my dentist had to correct the issue that I had of having an extra set of two front teeth, I had the set removed from my gums in an operation to leave me supposedly with two normal front teeth. However one of the remaining two teeth remained stuck in my gum and refused to come down and become aligned with my other teeth, this led to it being removed and me being left with only one front tooth. I then had braces for 2 and a half years to try and give me a normal smile, the orthodontist brought one of my teeth round to the front and built it up to try and create the look of the missing front tooth. However I am now left with three teeth at the front of my mouth rather than four. Although complicated I wondered what you suggested would be the best route for me so that my teeth are symmetrical and I achieve the perfect smile? Many thanks.

This is a very difficult problem to correct. If you’re lucky veneers might work so the treatment would be fairly quick. If not a course of fixed braces might be your only solution.

Hi, I had invisalign braces last year which pushed in my front four upper teeth that protuded slightly. In order to push the front teeth inwards, the surrounding teeth were moved further out to make more space for the front teeth to move in. At the refinement stage, my teeth were filed down and i now dont front four like my smile as much because my teeth look smaller. And as a result my face looks fatter. Is it possible to get the front four teeth enlarged close to their original size (both a little bit wider and longer)?

Yes, with veneers, but have a preview done first to make sure you like them.

I have had veneers put on my front teeth but I notice that it looks like I have a much bigger overbite than I did before the veneers. Is this common? They shaved my teeth down to put the veneers on, and I understand that there has to be a certain amount of thickness for the veneers. Would orthodontics work with the veneers on?

Trystan Says :

Hi It all depends if they were trying to correct the overbite or they felt the incisors were short. Usually unto the top third of the lower incisors covered is deemed acceptable. Orthodontics although not, impossible is ill advised, with replacement of veneers or adjusting the length more likely

Your best bet is to contact a local teaching hospital to see if they are looking for new patients, that should reduce the cost for you

Zaire Says :

Well that depends on lots of different factors It would be best for you to come for a consultation so we can figure out your current dental health status and all the options open to you for a cosmetic dentistry makeover A full smile makeover , where teeth are made bigger and gaps are closed, can cost anything from £2000 to £20000 (and sometimes more) depending on exactly what needs to be done to give you the result that you desire. It’s impossible to be more specific than that at this stage without seeing you and your situation in person Kind regards

There are a number of options I would really need to see you to give you the best advice, the teeth could be recontoured to improve the shape, you could have braces to straighten your teeth or have them cosmetically altered with bonding or veneers.
