Is operation necessary for a very bad over bite?

Q. I have a really bad over bite due to year of thumb sucking as a child. I also have a genetic problem which is making the overbite worse, and a very bad lisp due to this. My dentist has recommended either braces or an operation to fix this (he thinks the operation is more likely) Is this something they offer on the NHS. Do you have any other suggestions?

A. Yes you need to see an orthodontist they may refer you to a local hospital to have the treatment which should be available on the nhs.
