Is it possible to get invisible retainers after my 6 month smiles treatment, and is there any risk with having white fillings during pregnancy?

Q. Good evening Dr Rob I am currently wearing 6 month smile ceramic braces and am near the end of treatment I will need to wear a retainer however i would like this to look invisable, is this possible ? Also I would like to replace my fillings with white fillings after treatment I am wondering , is there risks of changing fillings during pregnancy, id ideally like them changed before I become pregnant ie ASAP Many thanks Look forward to your reply,
A. Retainers can be a thin wire bonded to the inside surface of the front teeth which is not seen by others or a clear shell worn at night. If your filling are replaced under “rubber dam isolation” it will minimise theoretical risks. Unset resin has been reported to be weakly Oestrogenic and current guidance would recommend not replacing amalgam fillings during pregnancy unless the filling has failed. Hope it looks great when finished, Regards Rob
