Is it at all possible to have teeth whitened if you have a crown?

Q.
My question is on behalf of my wife for whom I would like to arrange teeth whitening for her birthday in May.

The problem is that she has a crown on one of her front teeth that has been there for over thirty years.

We have been advised by our own dentist that she would be unable to have her teeth whitened because of the crown.

Can you please advise if this is the case, or is there any dental technique that can overcome this problem?

A.
Your Dentist is right. Whitening treatment only work on natural teeth. If she had the crown for over 30 years than a replacement might be your only option.
