Is it a straight forward procedure to replace amalgam fillings with composite fillings?

Q.
Hi Andrew,

My question is about replacing amalgam fillings with composite and whether it is a fairly straightforward process or could it lead to complications? Are composite fillings long lasting?

Thank you for answering.

A.
Composite fillings are fine in small to medium sized cavities although if the cavity is larger its often better to use a porcelain inlay as this lasts longer
