I’m Worried By My Worn Down Teeth, My Dentist Doesn’t Think Crowns Are Suitable. What Can I Do?

Q.
My upper back teeth are worn down and I’ve never had crowns fitted.  My dentist won’t address my concerns and said to leave
them as they are. I’m 43 years
old. My lower teeth are
capped and I have a denture on the other side. The advice given is to leave them for another year. I think the lack of length of the teeth
on both upper back set will be too short to address with crowns.
Due to immune problems with my health for many years and allergies
to foods, my teeth have suffered as
a result. I look forward to receiving your advice.

Hello. Thanks for contacting me. You should ask your dentist to try to see whether he can crown the tooth as it might break more and you end up with no tooth. Do you grind your teeth, maybe a mouth guard at night may help you also. If you are unhappy with your dentists opinion, try a different dentist and find someone who may have a different skill set and may be able to help you. Many thanks. Dr Hussein Shaffie.
