I’m Thirteen And Can’t Tell If My Lateral Incisor Is Broken Or Not As It’s Loose. What Should I Do?

Q.
Hey, I’m 13 years old and I don’t really know anything about teeth, but I haven’t lost many baby teeth, probably around 5-10, but my lateral incisor is loose, and I can’t tell if it is broken or not and would like to know if you’ve heard of this before? The tooth is whiter than others, but if I pull it back, its only attached to the back of my gums, but the rest of it, (or the new tooth). If I look at it, where the bottom is, the part that is attached, fits nicely in the hole of the broken part. The tooth is getting looser, but I don’t know if its broke somehow, or if a new ones coming in. Any advice or information on this would really help? Thanks.

Hi, I hope I can help. This could be a retained baby tooth and it may be the case that you do not have replacements for some of your first teeth. You should go to your dentist as soon as possible to have this investigated as a precaution. Thanks for getting in touch, it’s my pleasure. Dr Mark Hughes.
