Im not happy with Straightness of my teeth

Q. Hi, I am 21 and am not happy with the ‘straightness’ of my teeth. I was offered braces at a younger age, for which i opted, only to have a panic attack in the chair at my first tooth removal. I have two ‘missing’ lateral incisors at the top, and instead a ‘peg’ grew to replace only one of them. My dentist proposed to remove this peg, my two lower 1st premolars and put braces on both my upper and lower teeth. After treatment my upper canines would have been filed down so as to appear more incisor-like and not so pointy. There is no sign of any wisdom teeth. I very much want my teeth straightening, but at this age I do not want obvious braces. Please could you tell me, what ‘invisible’ treatments are there suitable for me? And at what financial cost? I am confident I can cope with extractions now! Many thanks

A. Hi Vicky, many thanks for your enquiry, the invisible brace option is called invisalign. This works by placing an aligner (see-through gum shield) over the teeth and changing the aligner every 2 weeks. The aligner is specially designed to slowly move the teeth into the right position. This treatment can take up to 2 years to complete. This could be a viable option to straighten your teeth but until i see them i am only commenting on the information given. The average cost of this treatment can range from £3500 to £5000. Hope this is helpful.

I have one tooth that sticks out at the front. What is the best option as i want an immediate result and how much will it cost.

Lynne Mayne Says :

For front teeth that stick out there can be a few options including the following:

traditional braces
Inman Aligner
Invisalign invisible braces
Veneers – if your tooth does not stick out too far

Your best option would be to have an assessment with a cosmetic dentist and he/she should be able to advise you on the appropriate plan of action. The cost of treatment will depend on the option that you decide to go for but can range from as little as £500.00 for a veneer upto £4000.00 for invisalign braces.

Hi, I’m a 19 year old female and I am very interested in the ‘Inman Aligners’ as I am very unhappy woth my teeth. I wore braces for a year when I was younger, and unfortunately I was not supplied with a retainer for reasons unknown to me. As a result, I still have a slight open bite and a coupleof slightly crooked teeth. What price would I be looking at for these? I amnot rich, so are there any monthly payment plans or something similar thatI could do? Thanks for reading.

Hi Im have noticed that since my wisdom teeth have come through my teeth are not as straight as they used to be. Whilst I am not too worried about this at present, I am worried that in the future they will get worse. I do notwish to have a permanent brace or invisaligns. But someone did suggest that I could arrange for a retainer to be made that would put my teeth back totheir original position. Do you offer this kind of service? And could youprovide me with an idea of the prices involved? Thanks

I am really interested in your Iman Aligner for teeth. I was just wonderingwhat the price would be? As my teeth are not terrible and I have never hadany work done to my teeth before, their is only one slight problem and that my front tooth on my bottom row is bending back and when I have been to the dentist they say I have half a tooth to many and when I was younger I should have got it taken out and got a brace to push them together and they would have been straight. It is has got to the point where I cannot floss between them at all and I feel as though it is really noticeable. If you could let me know exactly how much it would cost for me to get my tooth fixed Iwould be very greatful. Thanks Alot

Hi, I am very interested in the Inman Aligner Treatment as one of my top teeth sticks out a little further than the other. Could I please book in fora consultation as soon as possible? Approximately how much is the overall cost of this treatment (Upper only)? I have a bridge that is attached to myupper right cuspid and 2nd upper right cuspid – I notice that most alignersgo across the top four teeth, is it possible that it could only go acrossthe front two? I am a bit apprehensive that it could affect the bridge andmake it come out if the teeth to which it is attached was moved.. I also have a discoloured tooth that I would be interested in getting a crown for. If you could answer my queries via email first I would be very grateful. Many thanks

I was just wondering at what age are you able to start wearing Invisalign? My daughter is 12 and has most of her adult teeth, would we have to wait until she has all of her adult teeth? Her teeth are a little buck, which I feel is due to me letting her chew a dummy so much when she was little and I really don’t want her to feel awkward because of her teeth when she goes to high school. When would be the best and soonest time for her to receive treatment? thank you very much for your time

Also what is the general price of Inman aligner, i recieved a quote of £1500 but i just think it would be better if i checked with a second orthodontists to find out what i should save up for Thank you for any advice you can give and for reading my email

Yes the Inman Aligner can be used to correct twisted or rotated teeth but if they are too t=rotated or twisted you might need braces. I cannot comment on costs as each persons needs dictate the fees. Regards, Don

I have a slight gap between my front tooth and as i am sick of being called cletus, i would really like to have it rectified, but am not really liking the thought of wearing a brace for too long. I know you would have to see me in person, but could you give me a general estimate of my own case, or give an example of a case you treated in 6 weeks? I just want to make certain that i am choosing the right braces when i go to my dentist thanks very much for your time

Closing space is easy as long as there is room between your upper front teeth and lower front teeth. If there is room this space could be closed in weeks not months.

Hello I wish to have my teeth straightened in time for my wedding which is in 3 months. It is mainly the crowding at the front of my mouth that has bothered me for years and with my wedding fast approaching I thought it was about time that I did something about it. I know it may be a little short notice, but it does seem that the inman aligner has the shortest treatment time out of the other braces ive read about. I’d really love to have a decent smile in time for my wedding so any help you could give would be greatly appreciated thanks very much, hope to hear from you soon

Hi I would recommend you visit a dentist who provides various teeth straightening options asap so you could get started asap. Treatment times depend on the complexity of the crowding you have so treatment can take anything between 2-9 months approximately.

I am 55 year old. My upper incisors left 1&2, right 3 are irregular bend outside. Lower 4 incisors are in one line but bent outwards. When the jaws are pressed there is about 2mm gap between the front teeth upper and lower. Other teeth are fine and well in position. So I cann’t laugh heartfully. What I learnt from my mother that I fell down and got a thrust on my teeth in childhood, front teeth were loosened, so my teeth are not regular. At that time no medical (dental) treatment were given. Otherwise I am a healthy, handsome man with my looks disproportionate to my age. Can it be rectified at this age and what will be the cost.

Good Morning I wore braces for 5years of my life and at the age of 20 that seems like a lot. In order to have my braces i had teeth removed and now the lower of my jaw has lots of gaps. Does it sound like i would be suitable to have the invisalign treatment? I previously had an over bit but that has now been corrected. The gaps are in my front lower teeth and in the back of my mouth. With my teeth my case was very severe and my dentist told me that one day i may need to have my jaw broken to fix the over bite but this doesnt resolve the gaps that i have in my teeth. I unserstand i wil need a full consultation but I would just ike to ask. Thank you

Zechariah Says :

Hi Included in the Invisalign full mouth treatment, there are three sets of refinement aligners included, which is usually sufficient to align the teeth so long as they have been worn full time. I would advise you to discuss with your dentist about your options – it may mean some auxillary treatment to fine tune the alignment as aligners may not be sufficient to treat this. Good luck

hello I have a very pronounced crossbite, which affects my eating and speaking and just causes embarrassment on a daily basis. I’ve got together some ‘brace money’ so I can finally get treatment and i just wanted to make sure I was asking for the best braces for my condition. In your professional opinion is invisalign a good choice for the treatment of crossbite? And if not is there anything else you can recommend?

August 22nd, 2011 at 08:47 PM
Libby Says :

it really depends on the severity of the crossbite. If the crossbite is too severe to correct with Invisalign, you can consider Damon braces.

Would the Inman Aligner be suitable for correction of this type of teeth alignment? I appreciate you would need to see the teeth to give a definitive answer but a general guide would be useful (i.e. is the Inman Aligner more suitable for mild to moderate crowding only or is it effective for all types of crowding?). Not everyone requires extractions for crowding correction. Damon braces treat crowding effectively and give great results and the extraction rate with this system is very low. I would recommend a consultation for an assessment with an experienced dentist that provides all types of braces.

October 21st, 2011 at 08:47 PM

Refinement is a very useful adjunct to Invisalign which allows us to order a few more stages to make any further corrections at the end of Invisalign treatment. Your dentist will take new impressions and photograph’s and submit them to Invisalign. They will get a new clin-check showing the correction movements to give you an even better end result. You need to ask your dentist if there is a charge for this as its very much up to the dentists discretion. Good luck

Hi there. I’m 28 and I have severely crooked teeth and severe overcrowding particularly in the top set. I didn’t get braces as a teenager and as a result my teeth have set in to an unnatural place. I have an extreme underbite, when I bite down on my back teeth, my bottom teeth cover my top teeth in the front. This has been a source of embarrassment and distress for me for a long time. I was going to get braces a few years ago but the process that was advised would be very long. I would need to wear braces for about a year on just my bottom teeth to move them out of the way in order to then fit braces on to the top teeth for a year at least. Then, I would require surgery to break both jaws and move them in to place. The factor that put me off was having to wear braces for so long and I was told that the braces on the bottom would push my teeth out giving me a very noticeable under bite (whereas at the moment I can hide it, it’s only noticeable when I bite down in my back teeth), so basically, I would look a lot worse for a couple of years before I would look better. My confidence is low enough because of my teeth as it is! The idea of surgery to fix the problem doesn’t bother me so much. I wondered if there’s anything that can be done with cosmetic dentistry? To be honest, I’ve reached a stage where I’d be happy enough to have all my teeth removed and wear dentures! Sorry for the long message. I hope you can offer some advice. Thank you very much. Kind Regards
