I’m nervous, why do I need to have teeth extracted for my braces?

Q.
Hello, I was wondering I’m getting braces in May and im really scared . They might take my teeth out. i have a tooth above my canine tooth . will the dentist take out my canine tooth. And also what teeth do you need to get taken out and why? thanks reply soon . before may

Dear Enquirer,
You must ask your dentist/orthodontist these questions. There is nothing to worry about as they will check the health of your teeth and supporting tissues before any braces are placed, so your teeth will be gently moved into position.
Please ask what teeth (if any) the dentist is planning to remove. They will give you all the answers, don’t worry.

Hi, I recently had both first molars on my left side removed for orthodontic work. It has only been 3 weeks and I have noticed a sinking in of my cheek on that side (just under the cheekbone). Will this return to normal after the gaps are closed with braces? I plan to have the other first molars removed too. I also have a bimax protrusion. I also have impacted wisdom teeth which would probably need extracting in the future. I am 26 years old. Thank you.
