Q. Hello Dr. Moore I am a 43 year old Registered Theatre Nurse from Kings Lynn. I have a top denture with 6 teeth on it, the front four included. The other two are at the side on then right. I have had to have this as my bridge snapped and I had an abcess over the root. The two teeth at the front that were holding the bridge were removed in December. I now have only 6 of my original top teeth left, none of which are as I would want them. The denture hurts my mouth and I hate it. I cannot eat properly, smile as I used to or talk with people the way I want to. I am very self conscious that there is a gap between my gums and the denture which you can see when I smile. The denture is slanted and not on the right curve, if that makes sense. The shape of my face is different now. I really hate it and am desperate for someone to be able to help me get back to the smile I once had. What would you recommend and how quickly could it all be done? Thank you for taking the time to read this email. Yours sincerely
A. Hello, I’m sorry to hear of your predictament. It sounds like you might need to either have a new denture made or implants for the gaps. If the remaining teeth are poor you could consider a full arch bridge held with implants this may work out better in the long-term. Please feel free to contact me at my clinic if you would like me to take a look for you.
