Q. I am 15 and i have recently been told by a dentist that i need braces for 2 and a half years because i have a baby tooth that has not fallen out and there is another one growing. He said that he would have to take both teeth out, then apply the braces. As you can imagine i dont want braces but i was wondering if i could have the tooth took out and then have a false implant put in. I would appericiate it if you could e-mail me with some information. yours sincerly
A. Hi
It is possible to do although it can be very dfiificult and is often done only if the brace treatment is unsuccessful. Also we normally wait for the patient to stop growing (around 18 years age) before placing the implant. Maybe you should seek advice from your dentist regarding the best option or you in the long term
