If the treatment doesn’t work would you recommend a dental implant?

Q. Had a crown it broke off completly,Having root canal post and crown treatment ,root canal has an infection antibiotics have been put in for two weeks,went to dentist today only to be told infection is still there,the dentist said he has now put the strongest antibiotics in now this is going to take another two weeks it seems to be taking forever ,also he says my root is short and the post might not hold if the treatment does not work would you recommend an implant . thankyou .,
A. In short, yes it sounds like the post crown is probably not going to be the best long-term option.
