I would like my teeth whitened but

Q. I would like my teeth whitened but i’ve had alot of work done on my front two top teeth including route fill. one of my teeth is very discoloured I’m just wondering if a could get my teeth whitened or would I need some sort of veneer on the one which is very discoloured? I’m hoping to have the treatment done next month. I would really appreciate if you could reply with any information consisting options and prices please. thank you.

A. It is possible to whiten a root filled tooth but the result is never great and that tooth would still end up darker than the rest of them. My advice would be to have a crown or veneer placed on the root filled tooth and whiten the rest of them.
A crown on a front tooth is usually more expensive than a back tooth because it is always more difficult to match the colour and often a colour match is done at the laboratory. Crowns on front teeth will range from £700 to £1100. whitening can cost from £300. Have the whitening carried out first and then decide whether or not you want to have crown
