I would like dental implants but I’d have to undergo the bone graft treatment first, any advice?

Q. I JUST HAD SURGURY 3/17/2010 , I had an aggressive growth on my lower jaw bone and highland hospital removed it.I now have a metal plate in its place. THEY TOLD ME, it’s good for the rest of my life. or when I am ready, they can take a graph from my hip. I would like implants and a complete pretty smile.,
A. hi sorry to hear about that. obviously there will be initial swelling and bruising, and they will assess over time to see if there has been any influence to nerve structures. do not panic if there is alterd sensation hopefully this will recover with time. if they have mentioned hip grafts it means that there is little bone thus a hip graft which provides ample bone is indicated. the problem here will be that this is also a general anaesthetic procedure and you may need a walking stick whilst you recover. i would wait till you have made a full recovery i.e no symptoms then consider the bone graft but attend a dentist who works closely with an implantologist to plan your treatment as there are few dentists who can do this well. should you want any advice about dentists in the london area who can do this do not hesitate to contact me.
