I want treatment but have been told I need jaw surgery, is this necessary?

Q.
Hi Mark,

I am looking to get some crowns or veneers and a fixed bridge. I have been to see a few dentists and two said they could do the work that i require but the other dentist said she is unable to do the work because i have a straight bite. She said that jaw surgery is my only option. I wanted to clarify whether i can have the treatment i require instead of having surgery to correct my bite. I really do not want to have surgery on my jaw.

Regards

A.
Hi
That’s a question we could only answer following a consultation and examination of you and your bite. The corrective surgery may be the very best way to handle things but there may be a perfectly acceptable compromise option, avoiding the surgery. I’d have to have a detailed look at you to give you my opinion
