I want my awful tooth removing! What can be done?

Q.
I am a 27 yr old female who has hide my “extra tooth” as long as I possible can.. I cant tell you the last time I have been able to smile showing my teeth because this one tooth is so embarrasing to me.. I have great health insurance but unfortunelty not good enough because it will not cover a cent for braces to correct this tooth. The tooth is on the top, growing out of my gum. Besides the fact of it being embarrasing it is starting to cause pain.. My dentist refuses to remove it just keeps referring me to the orthodontist but theres no sense of visiting him again as he has already quoted me a fee and its just not affordable. I am a single mom who works full time and alls I want to be able to smile showing my teeth. Can you please tell me what you suggest I do so I can finally give my confidence the boost it needs/needed? I personally wish my dentist would surgically remove the tooth and place an implant in the space where the tooth was suppost to come down? Thank you for your time and your answer in advance. I look forward to hearing from you.

Dear Enquirer,
You will need to find a way to fund the treatment since your insurance will not cover cosmetic procedures. Many practices offer extended payment plans which help patients afford treatments so you may want to try this route.
I hope this helps,

Due to a fear of the dentist when I was younger I neglected to have regularcheck-ups and the result is crooked teeth with gaps. I’m so embarassed and it leaves me feeling horrible about how i must look to other people. I would love dental work to fix this but am conscious of the price, I’m a disabled student so only have a small income, do you offer a finance option topay for treatment?

I have just had three teeth extracted, two lower back and one upper side, towards back. All my other teeth are âhealthy and in very good conditionâ I donât have gum disease, donât smoke or drink alcohol. Can you please give me a rough estimate of the cost of three implants? I appreciate I’ll need a consultation for final price, but a price guide would be extremely helpful. I am an anorexic in recovery and have only just plucked up the courage to go to a dentist; I have to wait until June before I can get an apt with the implant specialist and was hoping it wouldn’t cost anymore than £5000.

I am aged 61 with good general health and all my own teeth, although several are crowned. I have dental checkups and scale and polish twice yearly. Iwould like to find out the cost of implant treatment at the Centre for Advanced Dentistry to replace a top right pre-molar crown that needs extractiondue to an infection in the root which flared up at Christmas 2010. Although the symptoms have settled down again, I have been advised by my dentist that the crown and root need to be extracted as soon as possible. Earlier this week I had a consultation with an implant specialist who does implant treatment privately for patients of my NHS dentist. He advised that after extraction there will have to be a delay before an implant can be done, to enable the infection to clear up, and treatment of the bone loss that has beencaused by the infection. If he does the implant treatment, he will be involved in extracting the tooth and assessment and treatment of the infectionand bo! ne loss, but the costs are considerably higher than I expected. Hehas emailed me his report and an image of an X-ray of the tooth. Would it help if I forwarded these to you? If so, how? My usual dentist can extract the tooth on the NHS and provide any necessary treatment for the infection, but he has suggested that if I decide on an implant, it might be better ifthe extraction and follow up were done by the implant specialist concerned.I would like to ask: 1 If your clinic does the implant treatment, would itbe OK for my usual dentist to do the extraction, or would it be adviseablefor your specialist to do it? 2 If your specialist were to do the extraction, how much would this cost? 3 What would be the cost of implant treatment, including treatment of bone loss? 4 How many visits would this require? Ilook forward to hearing from you

i am a little worried about my implants which i had placed about 2 weeks ago, as the swelling around the two sites has yet to go down. There isn’t any bleeding but they just still feel sore and i just wondered would there be anything i can do about it? I’m not sure if it is serious enough to bother my dentist with it, so I was just hoping there would be something I could do forit at home thank you for reading and any help you can give
