Q. my front teeth are not straight, one goes slightly back and the other forward with a gap..i think they may be impacted because i had a dummy too long as a child…what could be done to straighten them. im 28 now and although i have a fear of the dentist i really want a nice smile! please help?

A. You have 2 main choices to change the appearance at this stage
move the teeth into position with braces, aligners (orthodontics)
change the shape of the teeth by putting Crowns or Veneers on top. (restorative)

In general the orthodontic treatment takes longer typically up to a year active treatment and some form of permanent retention thereafter.
The restorative option often involves trimming the existing teeth.
Some cases need both methods orthodontics first then some restorative.

The right choice for you depends on things like; the starting position of the teeth, the health of your gums, the condition of the teeth , existing fillings etc.

Most cosmetic cases are treated privately
