Q. I suffer with Bruxism and it has caused my gums to receed which is making my teeth very sensitive. My dentist has made me a mouth shield which has not helped because it causes jaw strain and my gums are still very red and sore when I wear it. I am extremely anxious that I am going to lose my teeth if the problem is not solved, can you offer me any advice.,
A. My advice would be that if your gums are bleeding then there is still ongoing gum disease around your teeth. A periodontal assessment would be able to diagnose how much gum disease is present and what treatment would be required. With regards to recession it may be possible to undertake a gum grafting procedure depending on what type or recession you have. Again we could discuss this at a consultaion appointment.
