I Suffer From Gum Disease And Gaps Are Appearing From Tartar Building Up. Would A Bridge Work For Me?

Q.
Hello Dr Shaffie, I have been told I have quite bad gum disease but I do clean and floss regular but have always suffered from bad gums and as a result I have widening gaps at the front top four teeth.

I am having cleaning to remove tartar and build up this coming week. I really want to get my smile back.

What are my options would a bridge be okay once the gum disease has been addressed? If so what’s the time frame for this type of procedure?

Thank you in advance for any information you can provide me with.

A.
Hi, I don’t think a bridge is necessarily an option for you. You should see a gum specialist, not just cleaning the teeth. There could be a number of factors causing your gum disease, it could be genetic, or there could be a problem with your diet. Firstly, I would advise you to see a gum specialist, then seeing somebody regarding implants and maybe braces. I can offer you a free consultation to see what your options are.
Thanks and best of luck. Dr Hussein Shaffie.
