I regret not having braces when I was 16 and now that I am an adult I’m not sure what is my best option. Orthodonics or veneers?

Q.
When i was 16 i was offered a brace which i, stupidy, declined and now i am regretting it as when i recently went to the dentist to ask about having a bace put on she informed me that my teeth had set in place and were very strong so the likely-hood of my teeth staying in place when the brace was taken off was very small. I am very very concious of my teeth being crooked (even though i have been assured many times that they are “not that bad”) and rarely smile with my teeth on show. I have been looking into veneers as these seem like the best option for me. from what i have told you would you say that veneers would be the route i should take? and how much would i be looking at paying for them? Thank you.
A.
Hi and thanks for asking your questions

The answer to your question may be veneers, it may be orthodontics or it may be a combination of both?

Veneers can work very well to make teeth appear straight but what is crucial is that your teeth are not too crooked in the first place. Veneers are often destructive to tooth structure so unless they are only mildly out of alignment then the teeth can suffer long term.

Straightening may be the answer and lots of adults have successful orthodontics these days

The best thing for you to do is come and see us, or your local cosmetic dentist and orthodontist, for a full examniation and consultation to find out all your options
