i recently had a white filling crack and fall off

Q. i recently had a white filling crack and fall off. the dentist then put some medicene on it and said to leave it on for a few days and then he would see if he could save the tooth. i wenr back and he said he could save it and gave me 2 injections and attemted to drill it however he then said the nerve was too infected/bad to save and the tooth would have to come out. i am booked in for wednesday but i dont want a gap in my mouth what are the alternatives or options?. also this filling was done not soo long ago and cost me £100 is this fair for this to happen?

A. There are some circumstances where a recent filling fails through no fault of the patient or dentist. Without having seen the filling done or the failure I wouldn’t know.  You might find that they waive or reduce the fees for extraction / further treatment, sometimes it depends on why the dentist thinks it failed.

root canal treatment might be possible. If your dentist doesnt carry out this treatment you can be referred to a Specialist “Endodontist”.

If the tooth is not savable, options such as bridges, implants , & dentures.

You need a clinical examination to determine the correct option for you. We offer a free initial consultation at our central birmingham practice. For details please follow the webLinks 0121 643 0610
