I Noticed My Gum Was Sore The Other Day With A Hole Below The Gumline. Any Suggestions On What This Can Be?

Q.
Hello Dr Moore, I hope you can help, I noticed today that my gum was a bit sore in my front tooth. I took a look and discovered I have a small hole on the top of my tooth under my gum. Is this just a cavity or something worse? I have always noticed that my gum on that side was lifted higher than my other tooth. My dentist has never seemed concerned about it but I am not aware if this hole was previously there before. Any suggestions on what this can be? I am trying to contact my dentist but before then could you offer any help or advice that would really put my mind at ease. Thank you.

Hello and thank you for your question, it sounds like it might be a cavity or it could just be the shape of the root, your dentist will be able to tell you which, and what the best course of action is. It is difficult for me to say without taking a look for myself. If it is really bothering you, take some painkillers to numb the pain. I hope this helps. Kind regards, Dr Andrew Moore.
