I no longer smile due to a dead tooth which is discoloured

Q. I have a dead tooth, left front, if your looking straight at me, and it is now very discoloured, I am looking for advise to rectify the problem, as I no longer smile, as it is so discoloured. My dentist has advised it is very lucky to be there, it was knocked out about 15 years ago, and is held in with wire, but is really only just hanging in there. Please can you let me know what may be a suitable option?

A. On first reading it does sound short term survival. An XRay of the tooth would help to clarify the options. Some teeth are salvageable

If the tooth is not going to survive long term it is worth considering taking it out. If it is starting to affect your confidence

When the jawbone has healed, missing roots can be replaced with dental implants. To replace the tooth during the bone healing you can use an adhesive bridge or a denture.

If you don’t want an implant you could replace with a permanent adhesive bridge, a crown retained bridge or a denture.

Bridges guide price £500-1500
Implant guide price £2500-£3000 (include all assessments, temporary bridges etc)
