I need my loose crown fitting, would a new post be a good place to start?

Q.
I have a crown which was loose and my dentist informs me it is the post it is on which is the problem. It has been there for a long time – a new tooth was fitted probably 10/15 years ago onto exsisting post.
What are my options to have it replaced – it is near the front.

I am also on pension credit guarentee which means I don’t pay for dental work. If necessary could I offer to pay to have something done.

Your options would start with finding out if the post can be removed and re-bonded into place? If it has failed completely it may be possible to have a new post and crown made. if the root has fractured then the tooth is likely to need removed and then you could cosnider soem tooth-replacement options: a dental implant ideally but you could have a bridge or a denture

Have you not been able to discuss all this with your current dentist?

All your options and answers will come from a good , experienced dentist so maybe seek a second opinion

Hope that helps?
