I Need Further Surgery After A Failed Root Canal. What Kind Of Cosmetic Treatment Do I Need?
Q.
Hi Dr. Having lost a front tooth a while ago and a bridge covering the gap, I now need to have my other anchoring front tooth removed due to a failed root canal operation. If I opt to have an implant, how is this dealt with? I will have the second anchoring tooth ground down to accept the bridge – in other words I will have 2 missing front teeth and a post tooth that held a crown. I have several questions please, so that I can make an informed choice. The first is to ask, is it possible to have one implant so that a bridge can be refitted? My second question I want to ask is what kind of benefits are available of having a same day implant or is it better to wait? Also in the meantime what will be used cosmetically to cover my two gaps between my front teeth and post tooth?

Hello. I would try to remove the teeth and fit implants at the same time with a temporary bridge, but only if you’re a suitable case. You’ll need a full assessment first, and it might even be worth including the other crown to effectively create a 3 tooth bridge held with 2 implants. Thank you.
