I need a root canal but I am worried about the pain, what else can I do?

Q.
i have recently been to my dentist and have been told that i need root canel treatment but i am haveing second thoughts about haveing it done as i have been told that it can hurt during the process and after it will be sore and hurt for days what else could be done or what would you suggest i do
A.
In the care of a good dentist who can anaesthetise your tooth correctly, root canal treatment is usually painless. If this treatment has been advised then you should do something quickly as problems can get much worse and you may end up losing the tooth. Maybe get a second opinion if you have lost confidence in the dentist. I advise all my patients who need root canal treatment to see our own root canal specialist – our Endodontist – to get the best result possible
