I need 4 dental implants how much would this cost and how long would it take I am really upset

Q. Have two teeth missing on either side of my upper mouth meaning i would need four dental implants, how much would this cost and how long would the procedure take? I am happy to take a loan out and pay over a short time. I have the front six teeth the ones that are missing are noticeable when i smile and its extremely upsetting. Thanks C

A. Dear C,
The cost of the procedures you mention would be in the region of £6-8000 in total depending on the quality of the available bone.

Once this has been established then the procedure would usually entail placing the implants into the bone and allowing them to heal for 3-6 months – after this time they will be strong enough to accept the new teeth or porcelain crowns which will be fitted ontop of the implants themselves.

I hope this is of help to you

A rough guide would be £4000-6000 depending on the number of implant used and the bone quaility and quantity available

Its very difficult to get help with advanced treatment such as dental implants, even teaching hospitals don’t normally have facilities for providing treatment at reduced fee. perhaps a set of good quality dentures would be best

Thanks for your question. There’s no age limit to dental implants. Provided you are in good health and have suitable bone then dental implants may be an option for you. Have a chat with a dentist to discuss your treatment options and they can go through the procedure in more depth with you. Regards

When I was younger I have extracted all my first molars,.I am currentlly having orthodontic treatment for my overbite, my orthodontist decided to close the gaps left by my first molar extraction/s (which I am not happy about as my jaw is very small and my teeth are very small as well and by reducing my jaw further won’t do me any favours aesthetically), after the orthodontic treatment I will have surgery to correct the overbite. After all this will I be able to have gaps made (through bone grafts or any other procedure) and then have implants to be able to have second molars in my mouth?

Not sure but I don’t think so, once the space is closed it won’t be possible to put teeth into there even with bone grafting

Can I wear denture or temparory tooth 10 days after the dental implant surgery with bone graft ?

March 26th, 2012 at 08:47 PM
Darius Says :

Its hard for me to give you the details of treatment when I haven’t seen your situation at first hand. I guess your implant will have a high success rate of around 90% over 10-15 years but it depends greatly on the bone, type of implant and the operator

I have been told by my dentist that I have lost bone on my upper jaw and only my front 6 teeth have about 50% so when I loose my teeth I may be able to wear a conventional denture. This was caused by chemothereapy and severe gum disease that I have suffored from over the last 7 years. I am considereing having a permanent denture fitted which will mean that I have to sacrifice my remaining teeth to have the fixing fitted. Can you tell me an approx. cost of the surgery and the dentures. Thank you

April 11th, 2012 at 08:47 PM
Damien Says :

It might be a good idea to consider sacrificing these teeth while they have bone but i need to see you first to let you know if its the best thing to do. As a guide you need to consider from £8000 to £16000 depending on the restoration you require

I have temporary screw incomplete at fronted my mouth , now waiting for porcelain ones I have opted for screw-ins now been told that’s its not possible to fit them at the front of my mouth and I need cemented implants i’m not sure about this can’t believe you can’t have porcelain screw-in implants at front of mouth Can you please advise me on this situation as I don’t really want to have cemented implants in case of future problems add screw planted implants are easier to remove

April 19th, 2012 at 08:47 PM
Jarred Says :

Generally most implant crowns at the front of the mouth are cemented otherwise you may see the screw access hole as access to the implant will normally be through the front of the tooth. Cemented crowns work well in most cases

April 23rd, 2012 at 08:47 PM
Toby Says :

my crown came out as it was old but leaving some of the rod in my gum, i’m having it removed, but the dentist is also giving me a dental plate on the same apppointment. will i be able to wear it the same day or will i have to wait a while ? i’m worried the gum will be too sore for me to wear the plate i’m embarrased enough with this gap as it is. will i have a big hole ? the plate is only going to be temporary.

April 23rd, 2012 at 08:47 PM
Maya Says :

The temporary denture should be ok for the time being , but you will have to consider what you want to restore it in the future i,2 denture, implant, bridge.

Gunner Says :

Does being a Type 2 Diabetic automatically rule out the possibility of having Dental Implants? Your website says such but others seem to think that as long as the Diabetes is “Well Controlled” then there should not be an issue. If this is the case, then does implant success in a Diabetic patient apply to the Diabetes being well controlled prior to, at time of implant placement & healing period or does it mean for life? For example, if at the time of placing implants, a patients Diabetes is well controlled but some years later, it is not so well controlled, does that mean that the implants will then start to fail?

April 24th, 2012 at 08:47 PM
Rafael Says :

It is best if it is well controlled when the surgery is done and then stays well controlled.

Just had a quote for £1,800 for a fairly large dental implant. Would you consider this a reasonable cost? My dentist is against a denture but did not explain why. Could I have a denture now and later have an implant? Is it worth shopping around for prices for both procedures? The dentist said that a denture would be £500 max. Would be interested to hear your views re procedures and pricing. Thank you.

Hi Dr Moore, I was just wondering when you have dental implants will the dental crowns have a grey cast? If natural teeth have some translucency wouldn’t the implanted crowns have a grey cast because of the grey abutment? I have crowns over two root canalled teeth and they have a grey cast to them because the underlying teeth are very discoloured. So this is why I was wondering in the future when I have dental implants will they have a greyish cast too.

Forrest Says :

The post under an implant crown is quite narrow, this allows the porcelain crown to have more thickness there masking the metal post beneath

Hi Currently i am unhappy with my teeth, growing up i was always afraid of the dentist and avoided when necessary. One of my teeth has had a root canal but it seems like underneath, there may be infection. I know that if i go to the dentist i will have to lose the tooth. Is sedation an option with a tooth extraction? Also, i was looking at teeth implants. When it says teeth implants can cost 1200-1300. is that just for 1 tooth? or a set? Thank you very much.

8 weeks ago I had 3 implants placed in my upper left jaw. One of these was immediately post extraction. My question is about gum healing. Part of the gum tissue remains very slow growing over 2 of the visible healing caps meaning they are still visible. The 3rd cap is very well covered with deep gum tissue. Is this slow healing part of my gum a worry? My hygeine is scrupulous and l have no pain.

May 9th, 2012 at 08:47 PM
Cole Says :

No this is normal, if the gum covers the implant cap completely it will need uncovering, it sounds like its all normal but ask your dentist to take a look if you’re worried.

Hi how much roughly would it cost for a full set of implants top and bottom, ive had dentures since i was 18, i am now 31 and since having the dentures i still suffer horrendous pain in my mouth from sores and ulcers caused by the denture plates, although the plates i have now were changed only a year ago they feel as though they have gone too big in a short time and continually rub and cause great discomfort. would i be cheaper going abroad to have this done or best to stay in the uk?

I have 6 teeth left in total 2 center lower and 4 front upper, none are very good. Is there any dental schools who need patients to train on?. Because I’m not working I am living on benefits so have no spare cash but would jump at getting work done in return for allowing dentists to train.
