I’m 24 and think I have a deep bite/over bite.
Q. Dear Dr Patel, I’m 24 and think I have a deep bite/over bite. If i bite together I can only see the last 2-4mm of my bottom front teeth, and one of my top front teeth sticks out a bit. I’m just wondering what sort things are done for adults to treat this sort of thing? Its quite scary reading online about expanders, extractions and even jaw surgery and wondered what might actually be involved in any treatment and whether deep bite restricts options.
A. Orthodontics would probably be the best treatment to improved this deep bite. If you dont like this option it may be possible to add material to your top teeth to lengthen them and reduce the the deep bite. I sugggest you find a good cosmetic dentist you trust and get a consultation.
