I m 19 Can I get braces for free under the NHS scheme

Q. I was referred to an orthodontist when i was 14 to have braces fitted in. I had the braces fitted in but after a couple of days i had them removed as i did not feel comfortable wearing them. I am now 19 and in full-time education at university. Do you think i will still be able to get braces free under the NHS scheme?

A. Over 19 years old you no longer automatically qualify for exemtption from NHS charges, you need to fill in an AG1 form to claim on grounds of low income. But you need to find out if you still qualify for NHS orthodontics in addition to a question about charges.  See an Orthodontist with an NHS contact to have your IOTN score done.
Hope this helps

Okay, I’m 15 and I’ve had braces fitted before back last year, I had them for about 11 months. Then my dentist took them off, and gave me my retainers a week after she took my braces off and my retainers would not fit at all &she said she couldn’t do nothing about it , so now my teeth have gone back to how they was in the begining, but worse. Could I get them done again? On the nhs, because I don’t think its exceptable. For a ‘dentist’ that’s ‘quilified’ and still don’t know what there doing, and off course I cannot pay all that money.
