I have three upper back teeth that have been capped

Q. I have three upper back teeth that have been capped and the gums are receeding and showing a black line. Do the caps need replacing or do I need gum surgery?

A. The black line is usually the metal shadow from underneath the crowns.  The replacement of these crowns with all porcelain crowns would solve this problem
