I have swollen gums around my wisdom tooth can I still register with a dental practice?

Q. I have some sore swellings on my gum around my left wisdom tooth and it causes a low fever. I can’t open my mouth properly these days and I’m taking antibiotics at the moment. I’m just wondering shall I need to wait till the swellings gone before I register with a practice?,

Mary Says :

It is normal for your gums to be swollen for up to a week after having your wisdom teeth extracted. If your mouth is feeling tender, that is normal however if you start to experience pain, get a bad taste in your mouth of feel generally unwell then go back to the dentist that removed your teeth.

I have been waiting to hear from you whilst I know youhave been trying to sort out the materials/tools you need, but I wanted tolet you know that the tooth, or rather the gum lower down, has now calmed down and currently there seems to be no infection now going on – No doubt wewill speak when you are ready and in any event I will arrange for a hygenist appointment next week. with kind regards
