I Have Severe Periodontal Disease And This Affects My Confidence Greatly. Could You Give Me Advice On Which Steps To Take?

Q.
Hi, Dr. Gambroudes.  I have severe periodontal disease, most of my teeth are moving and some at the upper front have already shifted. I recently had some treatment from my local dentist and after doing an X-ray, we found out that most of the bones have eroded and it’s not looking good. Ive just started taking Doxycycline to hopefully save my gums. However, I am severely affected with the looks of my teeth and my confidence is absolutely down the drain. I hope you can advice me on what steps I should take.

Thank you.

Hello and thank you for your enquiry. I would advise you to seek out a highly experienced periodontist and follow a strict oral health routine. If you get your periodontal disease under control you can then begin to speak to a cosmetic dentist with the hope of cosmetic treatment. I would need to see you in person to understand the extent of your dental condition and provide you with treatment options. This website has a lot of useful information on the various cosmetic treatments which may be applicable. I hope this helps you. Best wishes, Dr Marcus Gambroudes.
